- This stone's face is stamped 正本山合砥 (shōhonyama awasedo) — a stamped, quality-confirmed designation identifying it as a genuine awasedo finishing stone from the honyama group, the small set of mountains historically recognized for true honyama-grade stone, including Nakayama, Ozuku, Okudo, and Narutaki Mukaeda. Unlike bag-label attributions, this designation is confirmed directly by the stamp on the stone itself. The stamp identifies the quality lineage rather than a single specific mine within that group.
- A Tanaka Toishi dealer cartouche (本舗 京都 田中砥石) is also present on the face.
Condition
- Stone: Working face is largely smooth, with some visible chipping along one or more edges. Please review closely under raking light.

Everything we carry comes from the personal collection of Ken Schwartz — the sharpener behind Precise Sharpening, who built the Nubatama line and gathered the naturals that sat beside it on his bench. The synthetics are new and unused. The naturals were his.
